Houston's Pool Resurfacing & Plastering Specialists

If your pool’s interior has gone rough, stained, or dull, you don’t need a new pool — you need to resurface it. Express Pool Plastering & Repairs has resurfaced and replastered swimming pools across the Greater Houston area for more than 30 years.

We’re family-owned, BBB accredited, and members of the National Plasterers Council and the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance. Plaster is not a sideline we subcontract — it’s the core of what we do, and it’s why homeowners who’ve been let down by a bad resurface call us to redo it right.

Our Resurfacing & Plastering Services

Every pool interior is a little different. These are the surfaces and services we most often put together for Houston homeowners:

Pool Plastering — Our flagship. A fresh, hand-troweled plaster interior that seals the shell and gives the whole pool a clean, uniform look.

Pebble & Quartz Finishes — Premium interiors that add color, texture, and years of extra life over standard white plaster.

Pool Replastering — Stripping a failing surface down and re-coating it so an older pool feels brand new. See the replaster process for how it works.

Pool Resurfacing — A full interior renewal when patching is no longer worth it, in plaster, quartz, or pebble.

Not sure which your pool needs? Selecting the Proper Pool Finish compares plaster, quartz, and pebble so you can choose with confidence.

Signs Your Pool Needs Resurfacing

You don’t need all of these. Two or three usually means the surface is past patching and due for a full refinish:

  • The plaster feels rough, gritty, or sharp underfoot
  • Stains and discoloration you can’t scrub away
  • Rough patches, pits, or spalling where the finish is flaking off
  • Chalky residue that clouds the water no matter how you balance it
  • Exposed grey gunite or dark blotches showing through the white
  • Your water level drops week to week and the shell may be seeping
  • The pool simply looks dated next to a freshly finished one

A resurface is a fraction of the cost of a new pool and the single best thing you can do for an aging one.

How Pool Resurfacing Works

1. Free on-site quote. We come to you, look at the surface, and talk through your options. No obligation, no charge.

2. Drain and prep. The pool is drained and the old surface is chipped out or prepped, depending on its condition.

3. Bond coat and repairs. We fix cracks and hollow spots and lay a bond coat so the new finish adheres for the long haul.

4. New interior finish. Plaster, quartz, or pebble is applied by our own crews — never a subcontractor learning on your pool.

5. Fill and start-up. We refill and walk you through the first month of care so the new surface cures the way it should.

Most resurfacing projects run about one to two weeks depending on the finish and weather.
