Custom Gunite Pool Construction in Houston
Why build a gunite pool in Houston?
Because our ground moves. Gulf Coast clay swells and shrinks through the year, and a steel-reinforced gunite shell is engineered to take that.
Gunite also lets the pool be any shape your yard needs, and it can be resurfaced again and again rather than replaced.
Any shape, because the shell is formed on site
Steel is tied to your design, then concrete is sprayed over it. That is what lets a gunite pool be freeform, geometric, vanishing edge, or built around a tanning ledge.
The pool follows the yard rather than the yard being made to fit a pool.
Built for Gulf Coast clay
Houston sits on expansive clay that moves with the seasons. A properly engineered, steel-reinforced gunite shell handles that movement in a way a packaged shell is less able to.
It also means the pool can be repaired and resurfaced indefinitely. Built well, it is a long-term structure with a finish that gets renewed every so often.
How the build runs
Design and layout, excavation, steel, plumbing and electrical rough-in, gunite application and cure, tile and coping, decking, then the interior finish and start-up.
We give you the realistic schedule at the start, including the cure time that cannot be rushed and the inspection points outside our control. An honestly scheduled build beats an optimistically sold one.
The finish is decided by the people who apply it
Because we plaster and tile pools every week, the waterline tile, coping, interior finish, lighting and water features get specified together rather than bolted on at the end.
That is the practical advantage of using one company for the build and the finish.

New Pool Construction Questions
How long does a gunite pool take to build?
It depends on the design, the weather and the inspection schedule. We give you a realistic timeline at the start rather than a best case. The gunite cure in particular cannot be shortened.
Do I need a permit for a pool in the Houston area?
Almost always yes, and requirements differ by city and by HOA. We will tell you what applies at your address before you commit to a design.
Is gunite better than a fiberglass or vinyl pool?
For shape freedom and long-term repairability, yes. Gunite is formed on site so it can be any shape, and it can be resurfaced repeatedly. Other types can be quicker to install, and we will say so if that suits you better.
Can you add a spa to the design?
Yes, and it is far easier to design in than to retrofit.
